What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Office Specialist, Maintenance Operations position at Miami Dade College?
The Office Specialist works as part of the office staff support team and provides advanced and clerical level support to the Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Answers telephone, screens calls, relays messages; sorts incoming mail and delivers outgoing mail
- Plans and schedules meetings and conferences as needed
- Prepares work orders and departmental requests; prepares and compiles reports
- Reviews and reconciles financial and purchasing card statements in accordance with departmental budget
- Prepares and processes requisitions, budget transfers, and on-line payrolls
- Manages department office inventory, office supplies and equipment
- Serves as liaison to campus and district departments, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or an Associate’s degree and two (2) years of related administrative experience
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Skill and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other related computer programs
- Possess highly effective organizational skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Working knowledge or ability to proficiently learn the Colleges academic policies and procedures
- Working knowledge or ability to proficiently learn the Colleges online student information system
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may require evening and/or weekend assignments
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
