Duties & Responsibilities Personalized Academic Support : Serve as the primary point of contact for students, assisting them in crafting a personalized academic path that aligns with their goals and aspirations. Holistic Student Support : Assess students' academic, career, and personal development, identifying strengths, areas for growth, and strategies for success. Resource & Referral Management : Help students navigate challenges by providing referrals to campus resources, including tutoring, counseling, and academic advising. Data-Driven Approach : Utilize technology to manage a caseload of students, track progress, and implement proactive communication strategies to ensure ongoing support. Academic Planning & Goal Setting : Assist students in creating balanced schedules, ensuring adherence to academic plans, and providing guidance for course selection. Proactive Outreach & Retention Efforts : Lead outreach campaigns to improve student retention, including contacting withdrawing students and supporting their re-engagement with the college. Career Exploration : Provide students with the tools and support to explore career options and align their academic goals with future career paths. Collaboration & Intervention : Work closely with Academic Affairs to implement early alert systems, providing timely interventions and facilitating workshops to enhance the student experience. Professional Development : Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to continually enhance your expertise in student success strategies. Additional Duties : Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and institutional goals. Minimum Requirements Masters degree in psychology, counseling, social work, higher education, student personnel or other discipline deemed relevant by the college and 1 (one) year of related experience in a higher education or similar setting; or Bachelors degree and three (3) years of related experience MDC Advisor training and Coaching certification must be successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and programs Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to work with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community Knowledge and understanding of academic programs, student and family supports, academic advising, career development practices and principles, and financial aid regulations Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft office software, student information systems, caseload management software and other office productivity software needed to effectively complete job duties General knowledge of admissions and residency Ability to effectively present information in individual and group settings via face-to-face and remote environments Experience in advising in a Higher Education setting Knowledge of federal, state, and college EEO / AA / Diversity laws, guidelines and procedures Ability to understand data and make evidenced based recommendations based on relevant data Ability to foster a cooperative work environment Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information Ability to travel between campuses, between buildings and to off-campus sites Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments Ability to interact in a positive manner in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff Additional Requirements
