Minimum Qualifications
Completion of 60 semester credits to include 12 semester credits in Criminology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Police Administration, Computer Information Systems, or related field and two years of experience in research, statistical analysis, or investigations are required; OR High school diploma or GED and four years of experience in research, statistical analysis, or investigations are required.
Recruitment Notes
This is advanced technical, investigative work in monitoring police-related software applications, databases, radios, video cameras, and the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Employees in this class conduct extensive investigative research to provide real-time and post-incident information to on duty patrol police officers and detectives. Employees multi-task while monitoring calls for service or critical incidents and conduct immediate investigate research utilizing a variety of fact-finding databases, video feeds, social media resources, and criminal data. Employees in this class are also responsible for analyzing crime trends and preparing crime maps; conducting background investigations, photo lineups, and crime bulletins; as well as documenting findings for statistical purposes. Supervision is received from a police or civilian supervisor, who evaluates work for efficient and effective completion of assigned responsibilities and for conformance with departmental policies and procedures.
