Responsibilities:
- Operate against a robust data governance strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall business goals and objectives.
- Establish and oversee the data governance framework, including data quality, observability, data security, data privacy, and data lineage policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, data engineering, data science, and IT teams to ensure data governance initiatives are integrated and aligned across the League.
- Lead the development and maintenance of data catalogues, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories to support consistent data usage and understanding.
- Partner with other data and engineering leaders to evaluate technologies that enable data governance capabilities with focus on cost efficiency and highest rate of return.
- Design and implement data governance tools, processes, and controls to monitor and measure compliance with established policies and regulations.
- Educate cross-functional teams, setting clear expectations for performance and deliverables, and promoting professional growth.
- Develop and manage project timelines for data governance initiatives.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of data governance efforts, adoption metrics and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders and partners to implement data processes, standards and best practices that guide the development of data integration and data sharing capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience in information management or legal data compliance, developing and implementing modern data governance programs for complex organizations, including data quality initiatives, data access management, metadata management and data policies and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and across the diverse experiences and perspectives of institutional leaders, data stewards, data scientists and analysts, IT teams, and information consumers.
- A balance of planning and execution skills. This is a role that requires both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
- Outstanding cross-functional partnership and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a compliance, audit, or legal context a plus
- CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT or other privacy certifications from the IAPP or similar organization
- OneTrust Professional or Expert certifications
