Job Title: Groundskeeper
Maintains MJH grounds in a safe, attractive, and clean manner.
- Maintains grounds and removes trash, litter, and debris per established department procedures.
- Maintains turf on facility grounds but cutting grass and using the weed eater as needed.
- Maintains outlying lot on 50th Street owned by the organization.
- Plants seasonal and/or ornamental plants and maintains plant beds.
- Sods and Fertilizes turf areas and ornamentals
- Performs preventive maintenance of grounds equipment per manufacturer guidelines and conducts inventory of maintenance parts.
- Cleans roofs and gutters and pressure-cleans sidewalks
- Follows all department safety policies
- Participates in department meetings and in-services as necessary.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- One year of related experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- N/A
Abilities Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with garden tools (hand and power tools)
Environment Work Conditions:
- Outside environmental conditions - Fumes, dusts, mists, or gases may affect the respiratory system or the skin
- Intermittent noise to cause marked distraction or difficulty hearing other sounds
- Hazards - proximity to moving mechanical parts; electrical current; flammable, explosive gases
Infectious Material Exposure:
- No routine or potential exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
- Exposure to solvents, chemicals and cleaning solutions used in various departments
- Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to
- Demonstrates professionalism and accountability
- Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Miami Jewish EmpathicareSM toward MJH residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information
- Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication
- Able to speak, read and write English
- Able to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job
- Adheres to the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines
