Job Title: Groundskeeper

Maintains MJH grounds in a safe, attractive, and clean manner.

• Maintains grounds and removes trash, litter, and debris per established department procedures.

• Maintains turf on facility grounds but cutting grass and using the weed eater as needed.

• Maintains outlying lot on 50th Street owned by the organization.

• Plants seasonal and/or ornamental plants and maintains plant beds.

• Sods and Fertilizes turf areas and ornamentals

• Performs preventive maintenance of grounds equipment per manufacturer guidelines and conducts inventory of maintenance parts.

• Cleans roofs and gutters and pressure-cleans sidewalks

• Follows all department safety policies

• Participates in department meetings and in-services as necessary.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

• One year of related experience

Licenses/Certifications:

• N/A

Abilities Required

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to work with garden tools (hand and power tools)

Environment Work Conditions:

• Outside environmental conditions - Fumes, dusts, mists, or gases may affect the respiratory system or the skin

• Intermittent noise to cause marked distraction or difficulty hearing other sounds

• Hazards - proximity to moving mechanical parts; electrical current; flammable, explosive gases

Infectious Material Exposure:

• No routine or potential exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues

• Exposure to solvents, chemicals and cleaning solutions used in various departments

• Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to

• Demonstrates professionalism and accountability

• Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Miami Jewish EmpathicareSM toward MJH residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests

• Demonstrates excellent communication skills

• Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information

• Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication

• Able to speak, read and write English

• Able to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job

• Adheres to the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values

• Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines
