The Outpatient Coordinator is responsible for verifying demographic data and financial viability of clinic and Mental Health patients for outpatient procedures and clinic visits. Assists with medical billing and basic clerical support functions as requested. Maintains census information and prepares for the Director- AHC in a timely manner.

Job Title: Outpatient Coordinator
Job Summary
The Outpatient Coordinator is responsible for verifying demographic data and financial viability of clinic and Mental Health patients for outpatient procedures and clinic visits. Assists with medical billing and basic clerical support functions as requested. Maintains census information and prepares for the Director- AHC in a timely manner.
Essential Job Functions
- Processes patient registrations including verifying insurance, obtaining, and entering all pertinent information and informing patients of their financial obligations
- Schedules and processes walk in appointments
- Assists with reconciliation of billing and serves as a liaison with the Accounting Department to resolve billing issues
- Maintains accurate census on patient scheduling and rescheduling and types of treatment required per patient and number of patients treated per month
- Provides census information and other reports as needed to the Medical Director
- Performs other support functions as needed
- Attends department meetings and in-services as needed
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Three years experience in healthcare with focus on medical billing & patient registration.
- N/A
- Proficient in Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO regulations
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Recognition and understanding of a wide variety of financial matters
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of geriatrics/gerontology preferred
- Knowledge of the financial aspects of long-term care
- Understanding of individual and family dynamics
- Understanding of healthcare and issues related to illness
- Detail oriented and strong ability to multitask
Environment Work Conditions
- Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
- No routine exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues, but may occasionally require performing unplanned activities which may involve exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
- Ensures that resident’s/patient’s rights are adhered to
