Fellow, Player Development Analytics

The Miami Marlins are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual for an Analytics Fellowship within the Player Development department. This position is designed for individuals with a strong understanding of modern baseball analytics and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable insights for coaches and players.

The Fellow will play a vital role in supporting the coaching staff and players at one of the minor league affiliates by preparing advance scouting materials, assisting with the implementation of player development initiatives, and completing ad hoc projects to support team needs. Additionally, the Fellow will participate in the Fellowship Development Program, gaining valuable experience and training across various areas of baseball operations.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, dedicated, and intellectually curious leader who embodies the Marlins' core values of innovation, forward-thinking, and teamwork. Interested applicants should be available from the beginning of minor league spring training through the end the MiLB season.

Key Responsibilities

• Advance Scouting Materials: Prepare and produce all advance scouting materials for the affiliate. Facilitate the use of these materials in pre-game meetings and provide in-game support and insights from the dugout.
• Player Development Analysis: Conduct research and deliver insights to assist the coaching staff in enhancing individual player growth. Responsibilities include tracking progress in player development plans and completing ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Data Analysis and Visualization: Apply data analysis techniques and create compelling visualizations to transform data into actionable insights that support decision-making.
• Player Development Support: Assist with on-field duties, technology integration, and data collection, collaborating with coaches and development staff to ensure comprehensive player improvement.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Completion of bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in data analysis, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience applying analytical skills in a baseball setting.
• Baseball Knowledge: Keen understanding of advanced metrics and sabermetric principles.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, with experience in R and/or Python programming languages.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex ideas to coaches, baseball operations staff, and players.
• Life-long Learner: Intellectually curious, open-minded, critical thinker that is eager to embrace challenges for personal and professional growth.
