What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESL/Spanish Teacher position at Miami Marlins?
The Miami Marlins are seeking a dedicated and dynamic ESL/Spanish Teacher to join our affiliate team. This part-time role involves teaching English to international ballplayers as well as Spanish to American players and staff. Classes will be an hour long and take place around 11am or noon approximately 4 times a week. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of the players and staff, conducting assessments to track progress, and providing weekly updates on student performance to the Director of Education. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, knowledge of effective language learning strategies and the ability to create an engaging environment for a diverse group of learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging ESL/Spanish lessons during homestands
- Assess student progress regularly and communicate progress and areas for improvement to the Director on a weekly basis
- Create a supportive and interactive learning environment
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Continually identify needs of students and allow that to guide instructional practices
Serve as a model of professionalism for students
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching ESL, preferably to teenagers
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
- Bilingualism is a must
- Certification in teaching ESL is a plus
