Job Duties
1. Daily Responsibilities: Serve as Director of Corrections and Rehabilitation in their absence; serve as Program Manager in their absence; provide oversight and support to Program Manager, Program Supervisors, and Juvenile Supervision Specialists; provides support to Lead Mental Health Therapists and Compliance Manager as needed; ensure youth intake and release are conducted efficiently to maintain adequate youth population; manage youth intake and/or release in absence of Admission & Release Coordinator; ensures facility rules and policies are implemented with fidelity; ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements, including ODYS, OAC, ACA, and PREA standards; participates in personnel matters including interviewing, training, employee discipline, supervision and evaluation of facility staff.
2. Human Resources Management: Recruit, interview, hire and onboard candidates for all positions; specify organizational tasks and responsibilities; oversee scheduling to ensure proper work force; decide corrective action regarding violations of policy, procedure and other regulations; investigate and respond to youth, employee and public concerns; resolve complaints and arbitrate disputes; supervise evaluation of all staff in performance of duties including probationary, and annual evaluations; make recommendations to the Director regarding hiring, improvement, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of staff; communicate goals, objectives and mission of the organization to personnel; promote positive work environment, teamwork and open communication; conduct regular meetings with facility staff to address resident issues, program issues, or safety/security issues.
3. Training Officer: In conjunction with the Program Manager, Lead Mental Health Therapist and Compliance Manager, manage staff training program; directly participate in training of new staff; track training hours; ensure training is in compliance with ACA and PREA guidelines; identify training needs and seeks out resources for training; conduct training; revise training program, as needed; assess staff performance and needs throughout employment at MVJRC.
4. Fiscal: Assist in monitoring budget; assist in submission of annual budget to ODYS; aid in maintaining fiscally responsible decision-making; oversee all MVJRC inventory (clothing, hygiene items, youth snacks, etc.).
5. Community and Public Relations: Assist the Director to ensure the organization and its mission, programs and services present a positive image; act as liaison with the public, other youth service agencies including the Ohio Department of Youth Services, schools, law enforcement and the MVJRC Governing Board; deliver presentations to tour groups; promote and maintain efforts to raise awareness about the program’s activities; implement measures to determine and respond to clientele satisfaction; draft official correspondence; network with community organizations and individuals to actualize the community correctional facility mandate.
6. Program Operations and Services: Maintain and develop policies and procedures in accordance with Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, American Correctional Association Standards and Prison Rape Elimination Act Standards; ensure policies 2. and procedures are properly implemented; develop, plan, administer and/or delegate all program operations and services; assist with ACA, PREA and other audits; ensure implementation of program schedule; in conjunction with the Director, Lead Mental Health Therapist and Program Manager, review facility programming to ensure stated objectives are being met and, when necessary, effects necessary program improvements.
7. Direct Supervision: Provide direct supervision of and conduct regular meetings with: Administrative Assistant, Lead Mental Health Therapist, Program Manager, Compliance Manager, Program Supervisors, Admission & Release Coordinator, Juvenile Supervision Specialists, Mental Health Therapists, Nurse, Teachers, and service personnel including food service and contract personnel.
8. Meetings/Committees: Governing Board; Advisory Committee; Program Review Committee; Treatment Team Meeting; Fiscal Meeting; Medical Meeting; Leadership Meeting; Supervisor Meetings; Shift Meetings; Training Advisory Committee; Petition/Progress Review.
9. Support Functions: Communications including Monthly Progress Reports and Critical Incident reports; recordkeeping; grievance and appeal; training; teaching; program evaluation; scheduling; direct care; transportation of youth; Special Reaction Team.
10.Additional Functions: Other duties deemed necessary by the Director, Court Administration or Greene County Juvenile Judge.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
