We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist in Interiors and Display Assemblies to join our team in Michigan. Job Title: Technical Specialist, Interiors, Display Assemblies
Location: Michigan
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop complex mechanism systems and components for car interiors, including air-vents, storage solutions, interior door release handles, sliding roofs, seat rail covers, and sun visors.
- Innovate and propose new mechanisms to improve functionality and usability of interior space, aligning with orgs design DNA.
- Integrate mechanism systems with electrical and electronic components for a seamless user experience.
- Design user interfacing mechanisms meeting best-in-class haptics requirements.
- Provide expertise in mechanisms to support fellow engineers.
- Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis on mechanisms to develop and design concepts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists.
- Define product requirements and specifications, and develop test plans to ensure product robustness.
- Create prototypes of new interior mechanisms and conduct functional testing for reliability and durability.
- Oversee the end-to-end success of the product from concept through production.
- Collaborate with testing teams to evaluate mechanisms for performance, haptics, ergonomics, and durability.
- Manage suppliers in the design and production of interior components, ensuring design specifications are met.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving design or production issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and technological advancements in automotive interior design and mechanism development.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in the design and development of automotive interior systems.
- 4 years of experience in designing and developing interior mechanism systems such as air-vents, storage solutions, interior door release handles, sliding roofs, seat rail covers, and sun visors.
- Exceptional expertise in mechanism systems design and development in other industries is also considered.
- Knowledge of gears, motors, hinges, linear and rotary actuators, dampers, linkages, cams, and other mechanism components.
- Experience in kinematic analysis of mechanisms in Catia.
- Experience in stack-up analysis of mechanism assemblies.
- Proven ability to create and improve technical product specifications and timelines.
- Experience in at least one complete product development lifecycle from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of integrating mechanical, electrical, and software aspects of products into vehicle architecture.
- Proficiency in interpreting modal analysis, finite element method analysis, and computer fluid dynamics simulations.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing technologies like injection molding, stamping, casting, and extrusion.
- Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred.
