As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will perform a variety of skilled manual tasks and duties in support of various services provided by Physical Plant.
You will install, repair and maintain electrically powered systems and equipment, including distribution systems utilizing power and hand tools. Follows accepted procedures and techniques of the electrical trade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits; inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits and equipment to ensure prescribed safety guidelines are met.
- Examine and test elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes to ensure proper functionality.
- Observe and report defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on facilities to ensure problem areas are addressed proactively.
- Communicate with tradespeople and custodians in day-to-day duties and responsibilities to ensure quality of work.
- Inspect campus facilities on a routine basis and correct deficiencies found. Observe and report defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on facilities to ensure problem areas are addressed proactively.
- Repair, maintain, alter, or erect any wiring apparatus. Run electrical conduit for installation of new equipment and wiring, as well as install transformers.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on electric equipment and circuits.
- Estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.
- Assist with special event setup.
- Perform all duties safely and in accordance with established department guidelines, policies, and procedures. Report any injuries to supervisor and manager immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Five (5) or more years experience in the electrical trade.
