DESCRIPTION
The Electrical Engineer works under the direct supervision of Project Managers in performing, developing, and reviewing electrical engineering aspects of infrastructure improvement projects. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills in the preparation of engineering plans, one-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, lighting layouts, control diagrams, power distribution calculations, lighting design, technical specifications, construction estimates, schedules, etc. You will be supported by a successful management team and team of designers to advance your technical and management skills. You will build and maintain relationships with peers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.The best part of being an Engineer at Michael Baker is that no two days will be the same.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform complex analysis, calculations, design, evaluation and inspection for a specific area of technical expertise to support project objectives.
- Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD software to complete construction drawings including plan layout, power circuiting, lighting design, panel schedules, etc.
- Review project requirements and specifications and collaborate with other disciplines and managers to determine assistance required in plan preparation, evaluation of project conditions, design changes and reports.
- Perform client and project needs assessments, determine, and discuss potential solutions. Also, attend project meetings to present design concepts.
- Prepare and present technical and program information to team members, management, and clients in a clear and logical manner.
- Complete design tasks by detailing the scope of work, conducting the analysis, inspecting the site, reviewing the requirements to assure the quality of the assigned task.
- Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and materials.
- Perform research to support project tasks based upon the scope of work.
- Review and interpret data to prepare complex analyses and reports.
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry design criteria and standards.
- Perform quality control procedures such as reviewing project deliverables prior to client submissions also performing an internal technical review of other engineer’s designs.
- Edit and review technical specifications and prepare a written narrative as part of the project deliverables.
- Respond to RFI’s and submit to prime contractor or client as needed to complete design.
- Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during the design process.
- Review shop drawings and submittals, answer RFI’s and perform site visits as needed during the construction phase.
- Prepare design fees for project manager as required as part of proposal or RFP process.
- Create design packages on schedule and on budget.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $102,000 to $130,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
