The Position
Michael Best Strategies’ Federal Government Relations group in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Policy Analyst to join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful self-starter that is seeking broad based exposure to legislative and regulatory business challenges. This is a hybrid position with the ability to work from home one day per week.
Position Duties
As a Policy Analyst, you will be expected to:
- Write memos, client alerts and blog pieces on proposed legislation, Legislative committee hearings, Legislator speaking engagements, and industry forums, in addition to providing extensive research on legislative, political and regulatory issues that pertain to our clients.
- Monitor various news and media sites regarding the issues that affect our clients, including assisting in daily and weekly news distributions. Legislative Assistants are expected to quickly learn how specific issues pertain to our clients so they can efficiently monitor online publications for timely updates.
- Administrative tasks in relation to updating and maintaining our client database and congressional meeting outreach tracker and setting up meetings for staff and clients with Legislator and Administrative offices. Legislative Assistant is tasked with starting and completing onboarding process for new clients.
- Be an active representative for Strategies in relationship-building and brand-messaging to strengthen our network and client base.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum two years relevant experience in legislative policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations

For District of Columbia applicants only (as required by the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023): The annual compensation range for this position in our DC office is between $65,000 and $75,000.. Compensation is determined based on qualifications and experience. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm's 401k plan.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
