What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Development Specialist position at Michael Best?
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Professional Development Coordinator to join our Waukesha office. The Professional Development Coordinator, reporting to the Professional Development Manager, will be responsible for supporting the effective, efficient, and consistent delivery of programs and projects in alignment with the firm’s overall competency-based talent management program for attorneys and staff.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinate continuing legal education (“CLE”) compliance documents, applications for accreditation, and attendance in accordance with various state regulations. Input CLE credit information into the firm’s CLE tracking software. Collaborate with the firm’s Professional Development Manager on updates, as necessary
- Assist the Professional Development Manager and specialist with planning and developing firm-wide training curricula
- Coordinate logistics for firm-wide training programs, including creating and updating invitations, reminder emails, Microsoft Teams links, conference room reservations, etc.
- Attend and monitor live training programs
- Maintain internal training library of recordings
- Assist in the creation of compliance reports and audits, as needed
- Help to brainstorm and implement process improvements
- Assist in responding to attorney questions about training and development resources
- Use editing software to enhance video quality
- Create basic eLearning courses using authoring tools
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge Base & Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required
- One to three years of administrative experience
- Strong organizational and process skills, focused attention on detail, and ability to spot inaccuracies and inconsistencies in documents
- Excellent technical skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to organize, handle multiple priorities, manage time efficiently, and exhibit excellent follow-up
- Professional demeanor and excellent judgment
- Exceptional in-person communication skills as well as by phone and email
Adaptability:- Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and firm needs change
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
