What are the requirements for a DSP?
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A clear background check and drug screen.
- A clear driving record.
- Possibly relevant experience or certifications.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience.
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals, assist with mobility, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Flexibility to work in various environments, including residential homes, the community, and other service locations.
- A genuine interest in supporting others.
- Respect confidentiality, maintain professionalism, and provide exceptional care at all times.
DSPs are responsible for providing meaningful support in a safe and encouraging environment. The DSP will work directly with individuals to enhance self-esteem and help them achieve their fullest potential by assisting with personal care, skill development, and community activities.
