Job Goal: Summer programming at Capuano offers experiences for children with little to no prior preschool experience or who would benefit from summer programming as they transition to kindergarten.
These summer programs provide opportunities for students to become oriented to the classroom and school setting and practice early literacy, language, and math skills. The daily schedule includes free breakfast and lunch, classroom activities including directed learning experiences in academic areas, opportunities for play, and enrichment activities. In addition, there are parent engagement activities during the week to support home-school connections.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Early Childhood and/or ESL/ELL license and relevant teaching experience (minimum 5 years successful teaching experience, Master’s preferred).
- Experience supervising multi-dimensional programs including student safety, program planning, supervision of staff, interns, volunteers, managing supplies, etc.
- Experience in curriculum development and leading/planning/providing professional development.
- Experience in working with students with special needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and families to support program access and effectively address issues that may arise.
- Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.
- Bilingual/multicultural communication with diverse students and families is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise summer teachers and all instructional and enrichment activities.
- Coordinate the administration of the summer school, which includes student registration, class scheduling and assignments, teacher assignments, experience surveys, and student assessments.
- Supervise the maintenance of accurate records on the academic process and attendance of students.
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper function of the summer program.
- Assist in the screening, hiring, and assigning of summer program teachers.
- Maintain high standards for students and positive behavioral supports.
- Assess all summer program activities and provide recommendations for the improvement of future summer programming.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of the Capuano Early Childhood Special Education Extended School Year Summer Program as well as designated SPS Department Chairs to coordinate, plan, assure implementation with fidelity for all children in the general education and special education programs.

- Summer School Session: Must be available for on-site support for summer session from July 7 - August 1, 2025
- Must be available for professional development during the week of June 23, 2025
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned

- Stipend: $8,400
