Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. Our client is a leading general contracting firm based in Manhattan, NY.

Client Details

Our client is a commercial general contracting company based in Manhattan that has been in business for the past 25 years, with a diverse project pipeline and multiple projects that are in the Public / SCA space.

Description

  • Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.

  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor bids.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to gather cost data and ensure accurate pricing.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify any questions or concerns regarding the scope of work.

  • Prepare and submit bids/proposals to clients, ensuring compliance with all project specifications and timelines.

  • Assess project risks, including potential cost increases and delays, and recommend solutions to mitigate these risks.

  • Track and analyze past project performance to refine estimation practices and improve bidding accuracy.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings to gain a thorough understanding of project scope and requirements.

  • Collaborate with senior estimators to review final estimates and ensure all necessary factors are accounted for.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 3-5 years of experience as a construction estimator with a general contractor, preferably in commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction in Manhattan.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and local building codes and regulations.

  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Manhattan's construction market, including an understanding of labor rates, material costs, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with both public and private sector projects.

  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green construction standards.
