This General Contractor is a respected leader in the construction industry, and is seeking a motivated and skilled Project Engineer to join their team. The Project Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects across multiple sectors, including utilities, infrastructure, and general contracting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support project teams in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Description



Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Support and Coordination:

    • Assist the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects.
    • Coordinate the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Maintain project documentation, including construction schedules, submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.
  • Technical Assistance:

    • Provide technical support during the design, planning, and execution phases of projects.
    • Assist with reviewing and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure project compliance.
    • Ensure proper installation and inspection of construction materials and equipment.
  • Project Scheduling and Cost Management:

    • Support the creation and maintenance of project schedules, tracking progress, and helping to identify potential delays or risks.
    • Help prepare and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and working with project managers to ensure that projects remain within budget.
    • Monitor project costs, processing invoices, and reviewing payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Quality Control and Safety:

    • Ensure construction activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
    • Support site inspections, quality control checks, and compliance with company and industry standards.
    • Assist in ensuring all necessary permits and inspections are completed in accordance with local regulations.
  • Submittals and Documentation:

    • Prepare, organize, and track submittals, RFIs, and change orders, ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files, including construction drawings, documentation, and correspondence.
    • Prepare project status reports and assist in presenting updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication:

    • Serve as a liaison between the project team, clients, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring clear and timely communication.
    • Assist in preparing and reviewing project reports, proposals, and client presentations.
    • Address project-related inquiries from stakeholders, escalating issues as necessary.

Profile



Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in construction engineering or a related field, ideally in general contracting, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
    • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project) and general construction practices.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong technical understanding of construction processes, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and construction-related software.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
