Job Description
The Quality Assurance Engineer (Aerospace) will ensure compliance with customer and regulatory quality requirements, support and maintain the Quality Management System, including internal audits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct gage R&R studies and statistical process control (SPC) analysis;
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, and PPAP documentation;
- Perform root cause analysis (8D) and implement corrective actions;
- Oversee quality-related policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Work with engineering to evaluate and resolve customer returns;
- Provide competency-based training for manufacturing and inspection personnel;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and product quality;
- Interpret and apply industry standards, including ISO9001/AS9100 and Mil Specs;
- Support machining and inspection operations with hands-on problem-solving;
- Guide the installation of new quality methods and systems in the Essex, CT facility.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Quality Assurance Engineer (Aerospace) will have a degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
They should possess 3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing, with strong knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 quality management systems.
Key qualifications include:
- Hands-on experience with machining operations and inspection methods;
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA);
- Experience with gage calibration, geometric tolerancing, and first article inspection;
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis (8D) and implement corrective actions;
- Familiarity with industry standards such as Mil Specs, AMS, and QQ-S;
- Experience developing PFMEAs, control plans, and PPAP documentation;
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive process improvements;
- Experience with internal auditing and maintaining quality compliance;
- Ability to train and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
