Description

The Quality Engineer (Plastics) will:

  • Serve as the primary interface with customers regarding product quality concerns and data requirements.
  • Investigate and validate customer product return requests.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
  • Develop, implement, and test product measurement methods and quality records.
  • Analyze product quality performance using statistical tools and process capability studies.
  • Support tool qualification, part approval, and process validation activities, including first article inspection and PPAP documentation.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies, shrink studies, and PFMEA activities.
  • Perform and lead internal audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 compliance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining ISO quality management system documentation.
  • Oversee special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide backup support for the Quality Manager as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with metrology standards, measurement equipment calibration, and quality control processes at the Naugatuck, CT facility.

Profile

The Quality Engineer (Plastics) will have:

  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding processes and part qualification.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex part prints and geometric tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 1994 & 2009).
  • Experience with metrology, precision measurement tools, and fixturing methods.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, SPC/SQC tools, and process capability studies.
  • Familiarity with mold qualification, process validation, and PPAP documentation.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement processes.
  • Experience conducting Gage R&R studies, shrink studies, and PFMEA activities.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management systems, including internal auditing.
  • Proficiency with quality management software, databases, spreadsheets, and CAD/CAM systems.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with measurement equipment calibration and quality control processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and customer interactions.
