What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estate Planning Paralegal position at Michaelson Law?
We are seeking an experienced Estate Planning Paralegal to assist attorneys in preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in estate planning or probate law, a Paralegal Certification, and proficiency in drafting legal documents. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team are essential. Familiarity with Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, and NALA certification is a plus.
Responsibilities:- Assist attorneys in preparing various estate planning documents, including but not limited to wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and living wills.
- Oversee organization and maintenance of all case related documents.
- Conduct research on estate planning laws, tax implications, and trust administration as needed
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and billing records daily.
- Coordinate with financial institutions, insurance providers, and other entities as needed for client matters.
- Assist with document reviews and document creation.
- Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents based on attorney input and client information
- Ensure compliance with federal and state rules of procedure.
- Manage document deliveries and execution.
- Assist with additional work overflow as requested.
- Communicate with clients and colleagues.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Paralegal Certification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a paralegal in an estate planning or probate law firm.
- Knowledge of state and federal estate planning laws and procedures.
- Ability to meet deadlines and billing requirements
- Proficient in drafting and preparing legal documents related to estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate well in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
