What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wine Director position at Michelin Acclaimed Group?
Highly accoladed fine dining group is seeking a first-rate Wine Director for one of their flagship restaurant concepts. Looking for this person to take over ownership of the wine program and maintain its excellence, and manage all wine operations, programs, and processes for the restaurant. This role will spearhead ordering, inventory, tastings, and training / education of staff, in addition to supporting the FOH team on the floor and engaging with guests. A collaborative leadership style, excellent training skills, and a track record of creating / maintaining successful wine programs is essential. This is an ultra-fine dining environment that will require a high level of organization and understanding of luxury hospitality / service standards. Experience working in Michelin-starred establishments (preferably 2-3 stars) and / or luxury hotels is required.
Responsibilities & Candidate Qualifications :
4 years' experience as a Wine Director, Beverage Director, Master / Lead Sommelier, Bar Director, Wine Manager, or comparable wine management role in a full-service, chef driven, fine-dining restaurant environment is required
Michelin (preferably 2-3 star), Forbes, James Beard recognized, or comparable fine dining restaurant experience
is required
Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent reputable wine certification
Open to candidates coming from luxury hotel backgrounds with a high service pedigree
Extensive wine knowledge; including characteristics, producers, wineries, regions, varietals, food pairings, and service
Ability to manage inventory while maximizing profitability
In touch with the fine dining scene and excited to continue to grow and change with the times
Passionate, hands-on leader
Ability to thrive in a hands-on, high-touch service environment
Creative and collaborative mindset
Knowledge of Food & Beverage service, spirits & cocktails, creating and developing, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising & accounting
Must have a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Passion and dedication to consistently educate the team and guests on beverage offerings, pairings and tasting notes
Commitment to creating a welcoming, memorable, and unique guest experience
Excellent problem-solving skills and always puts the guest first
Detail oriented - especially product quality and safety, sanitation, and cleanliness
