Laboratory Technician

Michelson Laboratories is a leading food testing laboratory based in Northern California. Our Laboratory provides a wide range of services and is staffed with industry leading microbiologists and chemists. We are expanding our Microbiology department in our Manteca location and are looking for a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for providing analysis of food products, to an extensive spectrum of customers. The position works closely with the Laboratory Manager and team of peers to support and ensure fast turn-around time and high-quality service. No experience necessary, for highly motivated candidates.

Responsibilities for Laboratory Technician:

• Preparing samples for microbial analysis including sample enrichment and plating
• Perform serial dilutions
• Perform sample extractions and titrations for chemical analysis
• Perform sample analysis using analytical instruments such as PCR, VIDAS, HPLC, etc.
• Examine agar plates for typical growth of specific microorganisms
• Analyze data on analytical instruments such as HPLC
• Sample Log-in and accessioning
• Sample Disposition
• Media preparation and Sterilization
• Standard/Reagent preparation
• Pick up samples at customer facilities
• Perform various QA/QC tasks as needed
• Other duties as needed

Qualifications for Laboratory Technician:

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based on upon changing priorities
• Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred
• Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
• Capacity for lifting-up to 50 lbs, reaching, bending, and twisting
• Handling samples according to SOPs and test methods
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Able to work overtime, flexible schedule
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and good laboratory practices a plus
