Position Summary
Michigan Agricultural Commodities is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Facility Accountant/Office Manager role for the thumb market, working mainly out of our Marlette location. MAC is a progressive leader in the grain industry. The ideal individual for this role will have experience or interest in agricultural accounting and bring office experience, demonstrating a desire to utilize skills to positively impact the company and customers.
General Description: The MAC Office Manager/Facility Accountant is critical to the success of the organization. This role performs accounting duties and tasks related to the location, customers and employees. The ideal individual will have experience in accounting and demonstrate a desire to utilize skills to positively impact the company, employees and customers. This role will office mainly out of Marlette, with some time in Brown City and accounting responsibilities covering both thumb locations.
Scope of Responsibilities & Job Requirements
- Foster and build a team atmosphere amongst office staff.
- Ensure timely processing of inbound and outbound scale tickets resulting in grain checks and/or settlements, to both external customers and inter-company.
- Manage inbound and outbound inventories; monitor for accuracy and control.
- Timely contract and pricing entry in Agris for position. Changing Y/N status for signed grain contracts.
- Monitor grain prices and discounts. Bring any discrepancies with the merchant or manager to Accounting Managers attention.
- Enter daily payables and receivables; monitor activities and manage with accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure daily deposits and incoming/outgoing mail are handled in a timely manner.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of cash clearing accounts and inter-company accounts.
- Facilitate employment paperwork for on-site personnel.
- Manage pellet activity, IP activity, and freight.
- Enter fertilizer sales into Agris.
- Compile payroll hours and e-mail to Lansing in a timely manner.
- Maintain on-site hardware and software.
- Provide exceptional customer service in a friendly business manner.
- Maintain positive communication with Facility Manager, Assistant Manager, and Merchants to facilitate best possible customer service and team membership.
- Maintain positive communication with Corporate Accounting staff.
- Attend Accountant meetings, in person or virtually.
- Cross train on and be able to assist in scale room activities, weighing and grading as needed.
- Handle inbound phone calls and face-to-face contact with customers.
- General filing, supplies, and other office duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
