Desired Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution
Certification:
- ESL certification or Bilingual Education endorsement preferred
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
Work Experience:
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in education, preferably with English Learners
Knowledge of:
- Federal and state regulations governing EL programs and services
- Curriculum and instruction practices for EL students
- Current research and best practices for EL instruction
- Program evaluation and data analysis
Skills:
- Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide programming
- Proficiency in evaluating instructional programs
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Capability to set priorities and prepare complete, accurate reports
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and evaluate employees in the EL program to ensure compliance with personnel records and program expectations.
- Coordinate and oversee the planning, delivery, and implementation of EL services across the district, aligned with state and federal guidelines.
- Plan and supervise summer programming for EL students to provide additional instructional support and enrichment opportunities.
- Develop and monitor an annual budget that meets state and federal requirements and reflects the instructional needs of English Learners.
- Manage and maintain database systems required for EL activities and functions, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist in writing grant proposals and manage grant-funded activities to enhance EL services and support compliance.
- Collaborate with principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents to implement a research-based bilingual education program aligned with district goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation for monitoring purposes and submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Facilitate curriculum development, assessment strategies, and professional learning by utilizing data for program evaluation and improvement.
- Support staff in understanding language acquisition and integrating EL instructional practices into the district curriculum.
- Maintain inventory of instructional materials and supplies to ensure teachers have the resources needed for effective instruction.
- Participate in meetings, including IEP meetings, curriculum councils, parent conferences, and district planning sessions, to ensure the development and success of EL programming.
- Provide technical assistance to schools to ensure that instructional programs, assessments, and support structures for EL students align with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and concerns from parents, staff, and community members regarding EL services and programs.
- Support professional development and coaching for staff to improve instructional practices for EL students and foster continuous improvement.
