Position Details
Summary of Duties
DeWitt High School is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal. This individual will support instructional leadership, assist in the daily operations of the building, and help maintain a safe, and positive school environment. The Assistant Principal will uphold school policies, manage student discipline, and work collaboratively to promote student achievement and staff success.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinates with DHS administration, all staff, and students to promote and ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment in which our entire school community can be proud
- Assists DHS administration with all aspects of teacher evaluation, instructional coaching, and teacher mentoring
- Coordinates the use of data and data analysis in the planning of professional development, curriculum, departmental work, and general programming
- Serves as the liaison with the counseling department regarding all aspects of online learning, Michigan Virtual University and credit recovery
- Provides direction and support to the implementation of a successful MTSS program
- Serves as a liaison with DeWitt Middle School administration and counseling staff to ensure successful student transition, academic support, and social-emotional wellbeing
- Assists high school administration with the development of a positive school climate and student discipline program incorporating positive behavioral supports, relationship building, and restorative practices
- Oversees seminar activity development in coordination with the SST process and counseling initiatives
- Extensive knowledge in regard to SDS, Xello, Parchment and College Board
- Participates in the planning and conducting of all DHS meetings
- Serves as an administrative rep as needed for Special Education IEP and 504 meetings
- Assists administration with all event supervision during school hours, on evenings and weekends
- Helps secure grants to support building goals and initiatives
- Other duties as assigned by the high school principal
- Collaborates with custodial, maintenance, and technology departments to ensure effective building operations
Qualifications/Requirements
- School administrative experience at the secondary level preferred
- Master’s Degree in Education, Administration or related field
- Current Michigan Administrative Certification or obtain within the parameters of current law
- Current teaching certificate successful teaching experience at the secondary level
- Knowledge of MTSS process, restorative practices, whole-child initiatives, trauma-informed initiatives, positive behavior interventions/supports, training preferred
- Experience leading and supporting teacher teams
- Knowledge of special education, section 504, ADA, IDEA, Miosha, and Title IV
- Experience with grant writing preferred
- Experience with 5D evaluation, rubric or other state approved evaluation tool
- CPR and CPI certified
