JOB POSTING – HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources and in compliance with established policies, procedures and practices, the HR Coordinator performs a variety of assigned tasks and special projects to support the Allen Park Public Schools’ Human Resources and Business Office functions. Maintains confidential employee information including, but not limited to demographic data, social security numbers, immigration paperwork, salaries, criminal history records, evaluations, corrective action documentation and results of pre-employment tests. Serves as system administrator for Applitrack applicant tracking system. Provides excellent customer service to all individuals and organizations in the performance of job duties.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or GED, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) or Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) certification preferred. Must be willing to obtain certificate.
- It is preferred that applicants have at least five years of experience as an administrative assistant or secretary; related school experience preferred.

- Superior verbal and written communication skills.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists the director in general administrative operations within the HR department.
- Maintains employee personnel files, records, and attendance.
- Performs internal and external office communication: email, voicemail and miscellaneous written correspondence.
- Organizes and maintains the HR filing system; ensures accuracy and completeness of confidential personnel files and employee records; and files and retrieves documents.
- Maintains employee confidences and protects operations by keeping HR information confidential.
- Monitors compliance with staff certification, licensure and highly qualified status requirements.
- Gather and merge data to complete annual local, state, and federal reports.
- Prepares REP and SID reports; Civil Rights Data Collection; CHRISS and ICHAT audits.
- Coordinates background checks and new employee drug screening.
- Completes background checks for all school volunteers.
- Updates and maintains various department/district database tools (postings, applications, certifications, employee evaluations, employee handbook etc.).
- Assists with employment process (e.g. callbacks, scheduling interviews, entering information into computer, maintaining current applications, assisting with applicant searches, notification, new teacher orientation/induction, career fairs, etc.).
- Facilitates new employee activation process.
- Manage, organize, and report data related to administrative leaves and other leaves of absence.
- Maintains HR records for new hires, transfers, terminations, resignations, retirements, and changes in position.
- Maintains SCECH and professional development hours.
- Must be familiar with basic interpretation of Master Agreements.
- Assumes responsibility for worker’s compensation and disability claims.
- Acts as liaison between district and third-party contractors.
- Processes and maintains accident reports. Acts as a liaison between district and Occupational Health Clinic.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
TERMS/COMPENSATION:
Reports to: Superintendent
Work Year: 52 weeks per year
Salary Range: $58,095.00 – $66,278.00 – Salary to commensurate with experience
