Position Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lower Elementary Teacher to join our team at Sherwood Elementary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Kindergarten students and providing them with a well-rounded education that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth that meets the unique and individual needs of all students.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and state standards
– Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and student participation
– Must possess knowledge and understanding of elementary school classroom management and organization, current best practices in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies teaching and learning
– Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessment tools
– Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
– Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
– Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide events and activities
– Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and behavior
– Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and any concerns
– Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessments
– Regular in-person attendance required
Requirements:
– Valid Michigan Elementary teaching certificate
– May consider applicants who are willing to commit to obtaining certification
– Strong knowledge of subject matter and teaching techniques
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
– Strong organizational and time management skills
– Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
Preferred:
– Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in an elementary school setting
Compensation and Benefits:
Based on STEA CBA for the 2024-2025 School year, compensation starts at $45,138 Bachelors Degree, no previous experience; $52,825 Master Degree, no previous experience.
