Position Details
We are seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to work with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a special education setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with ASD and a passion for helping them reach their full potential.
Responsibilities :
– Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with ASD
– Provide one-on-one support to students with ASD, including assistance with academic tasks, social skills, and behavior management
– Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other members of the special education team to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students with ASD
– Collect data on student progress and behavior, and communicate this information to the classroom teacher and other members of the special education team
– Assist with classroom management, including setting up materials and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
– Provide support during transitions between activities and classes
– Assist with personal care tasks, such as toileting and feeding, as needed
Requirements :
– High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
– Experience working with students with ASD in a special education setting
– Knowledge of evidence-based practices for supporting students with ASD, including strategies for behavior management and social skills development
– Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including classroom teachers, therapists, and other paraprofessionals
– Strong communication and organizational skills
– Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
– Physical ability to assist with personal care tasks, such as lifting and positioning students as needed
Compensation & Benefits :
An additional $0.80/hour for achieving 60 or more semester credit hours (college).
