Education and/or Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, with the required School Social Work course content.
- Must meet Michigan Department of Education criteria for SSW approval and must be eligible for LLMSW – Limited License Master Social Worker.
- Fully Approved School Social Worker preferred; however, those with Temporary Approval or Continuing Temporary Approval will also be considered.
- MSW Field placement in a school preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide social work services to both general education and special education students via individual, group and/or classroom intervention or consultation.
- Completes social history as well as provides and interprets assessment and evaluation tools to determine eligibility for special education particularly in the areas of Emotional Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Otherwise Health Impaired. Knowledge regarding the MET/IEP process.
- Develop functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans to facilitate successful learning and socialization opportunities for students.
- Supports the Early Childhood Program and programs for students with developmental delays
- Conduct manifest determination meetings.
- Support Independent Paraprofessionals and complete the application process.
- Schedule and run REED/MAT/IEP meetings.
- Facilitate Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Section 504 coordinator for the building.
- District crisis team member, Building crisis team leader.
- Coordinate Medical plans with the district nurse and building teams. Coordinate meetings and medical training of staff. Provide medical supports as trained and required.
- ADHD screenings, provide written reports with results to staff and families.
- Other duties as assigned.
