CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate with one of the following endorsements; K-5 All Subjects with additional endorsements in one to two content areas preferred; or K-8 All Subjects (ZC)
- Knowledge of and commitment to best practices as supported by current research to teach the District’s adopted curricula and meet the needs of children; willingness to attend workshops to strengthen skills.
- Experience and expertise with guided reading instruction, reading comprehension strategies, knowing how to monitor student progress within a balanced literacy approach to teaching.
- Must support and participate in the school’s efforts to create a positive school climate and promote appropriate student behavior
- Must support inclusionary classroom practices, be willing to work with special needs students, and assigned aides
- Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
- Must be knowledgeable of and able to demonstrate effective classroom strategies and management techniques
- Must be able to adapt to a variety of educational delivery models and be skilled in accommodating learning differences
- Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
- Committed to working in a high-profile school and being a part of a professional learning community
- Willingness to maintain/facilitate frequent conversations/communication with parents outside of the designated Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers
