Packaging-Logistics Specialist

The Packaging and Logistics Specialist regulates all aspects of returnable packaging concerning production and manufacturing at Michigan Automotive Compressor, Inc. (MACI). This includes maintaining inventory for production line support, as well as providing reserve support, as needed. The Packaging and Logistics Specialist develops customer returnable packaging for new models, including design approval and packaging specifications. The Packaging and Logistics Specialist will handle inventory, distribution, and procurement of supplier packaging used for raw material transport to MACI. The Packaging and Logistics Specialist is responsible for multiple modes of transportation including import drayage, domestic, and expedite moves. The Packaging and Logistics Specialist creates and maintains annual packaging budget toward Production Control’s total overall department budget.
Responsibilities
The Packaging and Logistics Specialist is responsible for the following included but not limited to :
- Inventory Customer Returnable Packaging
- Issuance of order to expendable suppliers for backup needed
- Analysis of production schedule; anticipate and manage packaging shortages
- Create and maintain packaging budget for Production Control (PC) Logistics department
- Execute decisions based on packaging availability, alongside Production Control Planner(s); regularly measure schedule and budget impact
- Control packaging specifications for Production lines and respond to client packaging concerns via customer portals and internal systems
- Implement customer guidelines for cleanliness and process requirements; includes warehouse layout and delegation of tasks to temporarily assigned associates
- Collaborate with related departments and parent company abroad
- Travel as needed
