Job Overview:
As a Farm and Greenhouse Operator, you will play a crucial role in the success of Berry Blue's breeding program. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the day-to-day operations of the greenhouse and field, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality care for plants, including watering, fertilizing, and monitoring pests and diseases. Maintain accurate records of pesticide application.
2. Assist in greenhouse and field operations, including controlled pollination, seed germination, fruit collection, plant propagation, tagging, planting, and irrigation systems setup and maintenance.
3. Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in greenhouse and field operations, perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
4. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations regarding employment, worker protection, pesticides, and agricultural practices.
5. Maintain inventory of greenhouse/field supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Relevant experience in greenhouse and/or specialty crop farming operation is highly desirable.
• Ability to operate farm equipment such as tractors and sprayers is preferred.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver's license and possession of or ability to obtain commercial pesticide applicator's license, able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
