The Farm and Greenhouse Operator position at Michigan Blueberry Growers Association plays a key role in the success of our breeding program. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the greenhouse and field, providing exceptional care for plants, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. We seek an experienced professional with excellent communication skills and a strong background in greenhouse and/or specialty crop farming operation.
Responsibilities:
• Provide expert care for plants, including watering, fertilizing, and monitoring pests and diseases. Maintain accurate records of pesticide application.
• Assist in greenhouse and field operations, including seed germination, fruit collection, and plant propagation.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in greenhouse and field operations, perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations regarding employment, worker protection, pesticides, and agricultural practices.
• Maintain inventory of greenhouse/field supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Relevant experience in greenhouse and/or specialty crop farming operation, preferably with knowledge of controlled pollination techniques.
• Ability to operate farm equipment such as tractors and sprayers, with preference given to candidates with prior experience in this area.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver's license and possession of or ability to obtain commercial pesticide applicator's license, able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
