Michigan Broadband Services is a proven provider of enterprise-grade networking, communications and connectivity service that address a wide variety of telecommunications technologies including fiber, DSL, telephone, and streaming TV services. We are currently seeking an HR Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist will play a critical role in supporting a variety of human resource functions while ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll. This position will serve as a key point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies, and will assist in implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and existing HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support recruitment efforts including posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and onboarding new hires.
- Assist with employee relations issues, providing guidance and conflict resolution.
- Conduct new hire orientations and exit interviews.
- Support performance management processes and employee development programs.
- Coordinate employee engagement initiatives and HR events.
PAYROLL:
- Process bi-weekly payroll using in-house software.
- Ensure accuracy of payroll inputs including hours worked, time-off, deductions, bonuses, and benefits.
- Maintain payroll records and generate reports as required.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with all payroll-related legal requirements and tax filings.
- Collaborate with Finance/Accounting to reconcile payroll accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of HR generalist experience, with at least 1 year of payroll processing experience.
- Solid understanding of HR practices and labor laws.
- Familiarity with benefits administration and open enrollment processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Preference given to PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
