What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Loan Servicer position at Michigan Business Connection?
SUMMARY
This position will be primarily accountable and responsible for quality customer service, accurate data entry of commercial loan payments, management of existing commercial loans, efficient disbursement of property taxes, etc. Some involvement with new loan support and portfolio management will be occasionally required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Daily Work Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer service to credit unions and borrowers
- Process and accurately post lending related payments, advances, disbursements, and payoffs to the loan servicing system.
- Maintain accurate account balances for all serviced credit unions and borrowers.
- Respond to payoff requests and prepares payoff documentation
- Monitor NSF checks, ticklers and exception reports
- Research and respond to requests for information
- Prepare and submit ACH loan transactions (i.e. advances, settlements and borrower payments) ensuring appropriate proper credit union notification and accuracy of procedural compliance.
- Process daily deposits
- Follow-up on delinquencies less than 30 days
- Monitor adjustable-rate loans for proper rates
Billing
- Verify the accuracy of the billings and initiate the automatic ACH payment changes according to the billings produced
- Coordinate mailing of statements to borrower with the Administrative Assistant.
Escrow
- Processes property tax bills including receipt and disbursements
- Ensure timely payment of tax payments related to escrowed accounts.
- Assist in the generation, reporting and mailing of the annual escrow analysis to the borrowers.
Other
- Online account access set-up and maintenance for credit unions and borrowers
- Conduct post loan closing (PLC) reviews to ensure proper documentation
- Working with credit risk staff as necessary.
- Perform other credit, risk management and servicing duties as required.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for opening the mail, copying checks and logging the payments to the spreadsheet.
- Assist with bank deposits and post office visits as needed.
- Assist with maintenance of the files in the file room in accordance with the retention schedule.
SUCCESS MEASUREMENTS
Success in this position is primarily measured as the accuracy and timeliness of reporting, balancing and billing, effectiveness in monitoring escrow/insurance/interest reporting and related communications, as well as the visible demonstration of company values and leadership.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S. ) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Financial education and experience preferred. FISERV or other commercial loan processing core system knowledge is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before members or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
