What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Tech 1 (2024-25 school year) position at Michigan City Area Schools?
Reports To: Food Service Manager and Director of Food Service
Work Schedule: hours per day vary (between 4 to 5.75 hours per day; times vary (dependent upon location), school calendar year
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assists in any area of food preparation and service in the school kitchen and cafeteria.
- Maintains kitchen and dining area in a safe and sanitary condition
- Practices excellent customer service and is responsible for understanding federal and state procedures for claiming meals, including operation of the point of sale system
- Education and Experience
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Able to work cooperatively with fellow staff and children
- Excellent Customer Service
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- School food service experience
- Food safety training
- Commercial kitchen equipment operation
- Cashier experience
- Excellent basic math skills

Payment Type: Hourly rate per contract
