Work Schedule: School year only, 5.75 hours a day, Monday through Friday
Reports to: Building Principal, unless otherwise noted
General PurposeThe Instructional Assistant's principle role is to assist the teacher with the preparation and delivery of instruction primarily to individuals and small groups of students. It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide direct instruction to the students, providing the IA direct guidance. IA's assist with school-wide procedures including supervision of school activities and other duties as assigned by the principal.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Maintain student and staff confidentiality
Comply with standard rules, regulations, and procedures assigned by Building Principal
Be part of the total support team for students and staff
Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
Support the teacher and related staff, who provide service for the student
Support the educator/teacher's overall goals and objectives for each individual student
Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
Communicate concerns to the administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner
Be on time and maintain good attendance
Attend in-services and training, as required
Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
Communicate important information to the teacher concerning students
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must meet current state requirements (ParaPro Exam or a minimum of 60 college credit hours)
Previous experience working with students. Desire to make a positive difference and be a positive influence in students' lives. Understanding and experience in an educational setting. Positive employment history and recommendation from a previous supervisor.
