Reports to : Transportation Foreman
Term : Full Time, 52 weeks per year, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday (rotating on-call weekends); overtime-eligible
General Description
The school bus mechanic will report to the Transportation Foreman and Director of Transportation. The mechanic will be responsible for performing assigned maintenance and repairs to the Corporation's vehicle fleet
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Performs the diagnosis and repair of district vehicular equipment.
- Assists Foreman in maintenance of a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Assists in establishing an efficient and effective system of routine automotive maintenance and preventative care.
- Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work.
- Maintains high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
- Install proper Special Needs equipment on special needs buses.
- Complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and machines (OSHA).
- Reports all conditions that present safety hazards on buses and other automotive equipment immediately to the Garage Foreman.
- Complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the storage, use, and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, and hazardous materials (OSHA).
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation, Garage Foreman or his / her designee
