Job Description:
The Nurse Coordinator is a critical role in the Health Care Resources team, responsible for acting as an independent resource for medical necessity determinations and recommendations. The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process and clinical knowledge to evaluate and recommend alternative treatments and care options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a clinical resource to other departments and MESSA's Medical Director in reviewing and evaluating medical information.
- Educate members and their designees on accessing and navigating the health care system.
- Authorize medical treatments, services, and equipment based on medical necessity.
- Support the development and implementation of case management programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate care transitions, interventions, treatment, services, and resources across care settings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Case management certification within four years of becoming a Nurse Coordinator.
- Current, active Registered Nurse licensure with Michigan Board of Professional Licensing.
- Minimum two years of recent experience in acute care or related fields.
