OBJECTIVE

Senior Manager, Brokerage Agency Objective

To organize, promote, and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, procedures, information, and materials necessary to support a professional multi-line Field Force consistent with corporate goals, objectives, and strategies. To act as the administrator for the Farm Bureau Brokerage Agency, Community Service Acceptance Corporation (CSAC), to secure new markets as needed and perform periodic reviews of existing markets. Administer the Agents Errors and Omissions (E&O) program, Agent Cyber Liability policy and Agent Directors and Officers (D&O) coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Senior Manager, Brokerage Agency Responsibilities

Plan, organize and administer all functions of Community Service Acceptance Company (CSAC) /FB Partners in accordance with and support of company objectives.

 

Coordinate and monitor activities of subordinates. Hire and develop both technical and clerical staff.

 

Oversee development and maintenance of commission reporting databases for all lines of business to provide documentation for sales agents.

 

Develop and promote a marketing channel for Farm Bureau endorsed long-term care products for members.

 

Work directly with the Managing Agency to train and guide the agent force on the sales and processing of new PC & Life business. Follow up on commission issues and track service fees.

 

Maintain standard carriers, specialty companies, and excess and surplus line companies for placement of insurance and bonds not available through the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.

 

Introduce, implement, and monitor standards of the outside companies in accordance with contractual obligations.

 

Conduct period reviews of CSAC contracts to ensure they are up to date. Continuously monitor, review, and improve processes in the CSAC Agency.

 

Assure strict adherence to regulations set by the Department of Insurance and Financial Services relative to agent-solicitor activities. Administer the execution of reports required with the placement of excess/surplus lines.

 

Work with Farm Bureau Marketing management, Farm Bureau Insurance Field Force, and applicable departments within the organization to keep them informed of changes as they emerge from the various CSAC companies.

 

Administer, review, and monitor the Agent E&O program, Agent Cyber Liability, and Agent Directors and Officers (D&O) Liability coverage, including placement, annual renewal responsibilities, and monitoring of claim reporting. Act as liaison between Farm Bureau Claims and coverage providers. Act as liaison between outside legal counsels in defense of actions against the company.

 

Perform an integral role in training for agents to understand what CSAC has to offer. Conduct training seminars in the field for introducing new product lines and updating changes in the existing lines. Coordinate training activities that are to be conducted by representatives of the outside companies available through CSAC.

 

Possess and keep current the P/C Producer license, the Life, Health and Accident Producer license and the Surplus Lines Producer license for the CSAC/FB Partners Agency.

 

Prepare and administer department budget, expenditure approvals, along with monitoring expenses and reporting budget variances, as required. Supply required budget, expense, and revenue data for preparation of periodic and year-end board of directors’ reports.

 

Participate in the periodic review and updating of contracts and agreements with outside companies. Monitor and report on Field Force production and performance as requested.

 

Establish and maintain staffing levels that maximize the efficiency of the overall agency operation through selection, training, reviewing, motivating, and educating the direct reporting staff. Utilize available automation tools to enhance agency service, support, and overall operational efficiencies.

 

Maintain a current understanding and knowledge of the insurance industry, especially independent agent operations/distribution system, activities in the excess and surplus lines, and health insurance and federal crop insurance legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Senior Manager, Brokerage Agency Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, insurance, business, or related field required, or equivalent experience may be considered.

 

Minimum five years of experience in marketing or management/supervision required.

 

Knowledge of computer and online processes required.

 

Must have technical knowledge of all lines of insurance sufficient to support a relationship of trust and confidence between Farm Bureau Insurance and each of the outside companies represented.

 

Must have full understanding of contractual obligations as stated in the various agency agreements entered with outside companies.

 

Must fully understand the role of an internal agency that is designed as a support element of the parent organization.

 

Active State of Michigan insurance license(s) in Life, Accident and Health, Property and Casualty, and/or Surplus Lines required, or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

 

Designation(s) in CLU, ChFC, CIC, CPCU, FLMI or LIC preferred, or currently working toward.

 

Preferred

Experience in Excess and Surplus Lines field preferred.

 

Note: First 90 days in the Farm Bureau Home Office located in Lansing, Michigan. Will allow some remote work within Michigan in this postiion.
