Michigan Fire Claims, Inc. is actively looking to fill a Field Inventory Specialist position.
As an Field Inventory Specialist, duties would primarily include:
- Regular short-term travel throughout the states of Michigan and Ohio.
- Performing accurate, detailed physical inventory counts of personal belongings that have been subjected to catastrophic property damage (fire, water damage, mold, etc.) and deemed a total loss.
- Dictating audio recordings of aforementioned inventories to be transcribed at a later time.
- Documenting via photo and/or video a catalogue of inventoried items.
- Compiling estimates for cleaning cash outs, dry cleaning, and box counts for items that have not been deemed a total loss.
- Occasional overnight travel, as distance and job size would require (these instances include bonus pay, as well as meals and lodging provided).
- Infrequently working in tandem (representing our insured client) with outside vendors and services as directed.
Qualifications and other skills required:
- A valid driver’s license.
- Consent to a background check is required.
- The availability to travel during working hours.
- Attention to detail in less-than-ideal (i.e. “dirty”) work environments.
- The ability to work in extreme temperatures (heat during the summer and cold during the winter).
- Proficiency in computers, computer usage, & “the Internet”; basic knowledge of Excel is helpful, but not necessary.
- The ability to prioritize various projects to meet time-sensitive deadlines when frequently necessary.
- The motivation to work independently as needed, self-guided and goal-oriented.
- The ability to also work as a team in a respectful, cohesive manner.
- Punctuality, accountability, and integrity are of utmost importance.
Physical requirements of this job:
- Sitting in a vehicle and/or driving for long periods of time (which also includes driving, at times, in inclement weather). (The company provides a vehicle for usage for commuting from the office to the job site and back to the office.)
- Physical exertion including, but not limited to, crouching, bending, standing, reaching, lifting, moving.
- Working in environments that can, at times (and very often), be dimly lit, dirty, wet, cold, hot, sooty, moldy, and/or covered in debris. (The company provides protective gear for personal usage, such as headlamps, Tyvek suits, gloves, masks, etc.)
- Exposure to the “elements” during inventories, as most houses/buildings do not have operational utilities (electric, gas, running water). (The company provides weather-related work gear for usage, such as boots, bibs, drink coolers, etc.)
- Completing job tasks with speed and efficiency.
- Speaking clearly, quickly, precisely, and for sometimes long periods at a time.
- Listening to audio files for long periods of time.

Job details:
- Status: This is a full-time (40 hours a week) salaried position.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am until 5 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
- Pay: Starting at $20/hr., dependent upon experience.
