Job Summary
The Operator Quals Gas Technical Trainer is responsible for producing MGU compliance status reporting of government regulation 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart N, Operator Qualifications (OQ) to include MGU and contractor compliance. Responsible for Natural Gas related technical training of all MGU employees, including OQ, Department of Transportation (DOT), Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration and non-OQ related training. Participate as a member of the WEC Energy Group/MGU Team in the design, development, implementation and maintenance the DOT Operator Qualifications Program for MGU. This includes training, system troubleshooting, certification testing, report development and management.
Job Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates Operator Qualification into MGU normal Natural Gas Operations. Coordinate and assist in conducting OQ training, testing, evaluation, auditing, contractor compliance, and record keeping of all OQ related tasks. Responsible for Compliance reporting of OQ regulations. Participate as a member of the WEC Energy Group/MGU Team in developing new or modify existing processes training programs and online programs to meet the evolving OQ requirements and company procedure changes. Audit contractor compliance to OQ regulations and OQ plan when they work on MGU facilities
- Coordinate and assist in conducting technical training, testing, evaluation, new employee training and job change training for job skills development and regulatory compliance. Assess OQ training needs for all gas employees, as need arises. Develop and maintain technical training programs to meet MGU operations. Plan and coordinate on the job training (OJT) programs and processes. Maintain technical training records
- Provide gas operations employees and supervisors with support for correct procedures, codes, regulations and equipment use. Member of the Incident team that responds to significant incidents throughout the state when called upon to determine cause of incidents. Investigates potential OQ violations and determines OQ task suspensions and compliance
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company standards for driving
- 1 years' experience in formal and/or informal leadership roles
- 1 years' demonstrated ability to develop and train various audiences in key concepts
- 5 years' experience being familiar with pertinent regulations and expert in Operations and Maintenance and DOT Operator Qualification requirements
- 5 years' gas industry knowledge, including International Fuel Gas Code

Pay Range Minimum: $36.99
Pay Range Maximum: $55.48
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
