Job Description
Job Title: Medical Assistant/Pre-Medical Students
Summary: To assist all physicians and patients with needed responsibilities on a daily basis
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Responsible for nurse visits
- Responsible for rooming patients
- Ensuring efficient turnover of exam rooms
- Obtaining vital signs
- Taking medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examinations
- Assisting the physician during examinations
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets
- Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Wound care and changing dressings
- Apply knowledge of sterile techniques
Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Using computer applications
- Answering telephones
- Acquire necessary medical records and documents for patient charts by communicating via telephone, facsimile or in person with other office locations or office personnel
- Updating medical records
- Review patient charts to ensure proper documentation and information are enclosed in accordance with practice guidelines
- Coding and filling out insurance forms
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
- Submit insurance forms to insurance companies as required for prior authorizations for medications
Principal Duties
- Adheres to OSHA standards
- Compliant with HIPAA regulations
- Assists with patient needs at all times
- Responsible for following up with patients
- Scribing
- Ensure patient charts contain all pertinent information
- Train New Hires
- Alert Physicians of patients' allergies prior to beginning exams
- Monitor supply levels, and replace as needed
- Instruct patients regarding information needed once they leave the office

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
