MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION
Growing Michigan Health Specialist seeks a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist with education from a Medical Billing program or previous work experience, to become an integral part of our billing team.
This person will be a full-time, goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated Biller/Coder. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: consistently follow up on unpaid claims utilizing monthly aging reports and filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement.
DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIES
- Accurately post all assigned insurance payments
- Timely follow up on insurance claim denial, exceptions or exclusions
- Data entry of hospital charges
- Meet deadlines
- Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits
- Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 60 days
- Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, staff, and providers
- Meets with Billing Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles
- Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisory or Management team
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of medical billing, computer programs, business office procedures
- Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
- Data entry of assigned hospital charges
- Meeting deadlines
- Working the accounts receivable reports
- Meets with Billing Manager ongoing basis
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
