The Medical Receptionist worksin a sometimes busy medical office environment and acts as a mediator betweenthe doctor and the patients and as an office organizer who manages the crucialdata regarding the health of innumerable patients in the medical office.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains medical records and report statistics as required.
- Register patients according to the medical practice protocol.
- Explain clinic policy to patients while receiving and delivering messages.
- Handle and manage the continuous flow of information in the practice.
- Organize and maintain forms and office stationary required for front desk activities.
- Communicates with vendors and careful inspection of leased supplies, organizes medical supply stock.
- Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of patients, assuring patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA.
- Schedule appointments, organize overflowing paper documents, distribute required information via post office, courier, telephone and e-mail.
- Use desktop publishing, Microsoft office, to manage data and create documents on computers, typing 35 WPM.
- Schedule patients for testing and specialized treatment as necessary, filing and completing medical reports and insurance forms, pulling charts, filing discharge forms, etc.
- Open office as scheduled by practice, ready the reception area for each working day, greet patients and practice visitors. Responsible for directing patients and visitors to the appropriate location and services, conducting themselves in a courteous, polite and helpful manner.
- Determine the financial status of patients and their eligibility for health services, assist patients in accurately completing appropriate forms and documents for the required information.
- Collect and deposit co-pays and fees according to the practice needs, prepare and balance financial registers, patient billing, and submit all forms and fees to the practice manager as directed.
- Handling income and outgoing phone calls into the practice, including scheduling and confirming appointments as directed by the practice.
- Ability to work well under pressure, accurately and efficiently, ability to interact in pleasant and supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.
Position is full-time. Fluency in Arabic or Chaldean is preferred but not required.
