Terminal Operator
Petroleum Company - River Rouge, MI
The Terminal Operator position is responsible for performing operational activities relating to the transfer of petroleum products between a variety of containers and maintaining tanks and facilities in accordance with regulatory compliance.

Job Duties:
- Mechanic-keep pumps, motors, vehicles running efficiently
- Operate pumps, valves, blenders and automated loading system to load and/or unload product from trucks, railcars, barges and ships.
- Line up tanks and pipelines for product deliveries and distributions.
- Measure and gather samples of petroleum products.
- Perform cleaning, preventive and regular Terminal maintenance duties.
- Coordinate product delivery with customers, truck drivers and barges.
- Operate fork lift, tractor, truck, man-lift and various hand tools.
- Serve as a member of the emergency response team.
- Follow established Company policies and procedures in strict accordance with environmental, health and safety rules.
- Perform recordkeeping duties related to storage and transfer of product.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have mechanical aptitude
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic math skills including fractions.
- Ability to speak, read and write in the English language and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license.
- Ability to work a rotating shift, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime and be on call as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, climb ladders and stairs and work in areas with elevated heights, around water and on uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions and wear personal protective equipment as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to respond quickly to stressful emergency situations.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) involves federal background check. Within 30 calendar days of hire date company funded.
- Must pass drug test and physical.
- Must be able to successfully complete Company HazMat training, safety awareness training and any related training and certifications as required.
- Accurate measuring and calculating product.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn equipment operation including a fork lift, tractor, truck or man-lift.
- Ability to use various hand tools and gauges, such as thermometers and digital probes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a group setting and individually.
