About Michigan Math and Science Academy (MMSA) Lorraine:
MMSA Lorraine is a Pre-K through 5th grade, non-selective, tuition-free charter school that provides a private school experience to all of its students. With a focus on personalized education, technology, and STEAM programming, we are dedicated to helping our students outperform neighboring districts and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
- Adhere to the established teaching curriculum
- Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Communicate via phone calls and emails with parents on a weekly basis
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Arts or a related field.
- Michigan Professional, Standard, or Interim Teaching License.
- Prior experience teaching elementary, middle school arts.
- Strong knowledge of the subject matter.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students.
- Passion for education and a dedication to fostering a love for art among students.
- Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate it into instruction effectively.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
