Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Clinical Research Technician to conduct independent clinical assessments for clinical / translational research projects examining neurocognitive processes in adults with trauma, PTSD, and substance use disorders. The position requires demonstrating professional competence using validated structured interview diagnostic instruments, and working with a collaborative, interdisciplinary research group under the direction of Dr. Liz Duval.

Position Specific Responsibilities Will Include

  • Perform a variety of structured interviews to assess psychiatric symptoms, trauma exposure, and substance use
  • Participating in group meetings, interviews, discussions for training and reliability
  • Participant recruitment and management
  • Participant consenting


Required Qualifications*

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.


Technician -

  • Associate degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience in health care agency or hospital.
  • Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials or an advanced degree in a health-related areas OR 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.


Underfill to Assistant -

  • High school diploma or GED.


Desired Qualifications*

Technician -

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures.


Assistant -

  • Associate degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures.


Work Schedule

40 hours a week with some flexibility to determine schedule between 8am and 7pm, Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours may be required based on participant availability.

Work Locations

This position is located at the Rachel Upjohn Building in Ann Arbor, MI. Hybrid is an option.

Modes of Work
