We are seeking applicants for a full-time study coordinator to support Dr. Soo-Eun Chang's ongoing MRI and behavioral studies for children and adults who stutter. This position involves MRI and behavioral data collection for several studies investigating the neurophysiological basis of childhood brain development and stuttering. The ability to work on short-term projects as requested is also required.
This position provides extensive research experience and is ideal for recent college graduates planning to attend graduate school in the future. The successful candidate will work with lab members including faculty, postdocs, and students. The research assistant will oversee all aspects of day-to-day study activities including recruitment, scheduling visits, conducting mock MRI training sessions, MRI data collection, behavioral data collection, interfacing with parents and families, maintaining study documentations, and other tasks as needed. We also maintain a healthy community outreach program involving speech and language screenings, parent education, etc. and this position will have the opportunity to be involved with this program. The amount of time in some of these activities will vary somewhat based on experience, time of the year, and lab needs.
Because we work with children, you must be willing to work some late afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate our participants.
Required Qualifications*
Weekdays including frequent late afternoon/evening (e.g., 4-7pm) and weekends.
Work Locations
Our staff work in person at the Rachel Upjohn Building. MRI scans are completed at the fMRI Lab on North Campus. Access to a car to travel to the Rachel Upjohn Building and between locations is strongly suggested.
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree required in a related field (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, communication sciences and disorders)
- At least 1 year of research with human subjects.
- Outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication are critical.
- Previous experience as a research assistant on studies involving children and families is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of and interest in stuttering, speech, language, and/or neurodevelopmental disorders preferred.
- Familiarity with REDCap and/or RippleScience.
